The press make us believe that the banks are not lending mortgage finance anymore but nothing could be further from the truth. Examples of these myths are that you need a 40% deposit whereas in reality some banks only require 5%. Indeed you can get a buy to let property with only a 20% deposit!
There are also many subtle differences between the banks and not just in their rates. Some lend higher multiples of salary, some have low fees and incentives deals, some banks accept customers who have only been employed for a day and some have even started lending to customers with poor credit records.
